The Dream Achievers Band is a music ensemble made up of talented young musicians with Autism who have participated in Friends of Children with Special Needs (FCSN) music program.

Founded four year ago, Dream Achievers members are Lawrence Wang, age 25, saxophonist/flutist, drummer and vocalist, Alice Jen, age 16, pianist, and Gregory Hebert, age 21, guitarist and vocalist. Their repertoire includes over 160 songs that range from classical music to jazz/hip hop, Latin, kid-songs, and traditional cultural music.

Due to Autism, each one of them has an inspirational story of hope and amazing encourage behind their music.

Lawrence has always been fearful of loud sounds and high pitches. Merely six years ago, Lawrence attended his first music lesson and was introduced to the flute recorder.

Working through the painful noises, he mastered the instrument with ease.

He was the featured soloist at the 2009 Virtuoso International Flute Ensemble spring concert where an audience listened with disbelief and tears in their eyes. Later that year, he started saxophone lessons. In two months time, he began performing around the Bay Area. In 2012, he also started singing in the band for the first time. Since then local newspapers and television stations showcased Lawrence many times.

Alice started her musical journey when she was 5 years old. She began playing by ear before she spoke her first word, and started formal music lessons at age 7. Alice has won the first place at Western Regional California State Talent and Performing Arts Competition in 2008, 2010, and 2012. Gregory, like Lawrence, was also sensitive to loud sounds as a child. It was only a mere four years ago that he taught himself to play the guitar. He started out by playing along to songs on his videos, eventually branching out to imitating guitarists on YouTube. Gregory's musical talent has blossomed, as he has developed perfect pitch and learns the band songs by ear.

The Dream Achievers Band is one of the winners of 2015 Special Needs Got Talent. Even though they were formed merely four years ago, they have been the headliner for countless events and celebrations, including concerts in Beijing, Hong Kong, Shanghai, California State Capitol, universities, and public and private parties. These young musicians’ goal is to be the sign of hope for parents, and ambassadors and shining examples for the community at large to see that individuals with “disabilities” can have many special “abilities” through their gift of music.
