Lee Smith is a professional drummer/teacher from Northamptonshire he has been playing drums just over 20 years. He graduated from the acm in Guildford and has studied drums with Ian self, and Pete Riley and taken instruction from Phil Solomon,Dom Famularo and Joe morello. Lee has played in all styles from brass band, big band, progressive rock,funk and fusion, he has played the glastonbury festival,melloboat festivals(sweeden) Weyfest,Watchett, Sonic Rock solstice and many others and has performed small gigs with current yardbirds guitarist Ben King.

Lee currently teaches at his own DRUMSMITH studio as well as for NMPAT (Northamptonshire music and performing arts trust) in schools.

He is a member of the Hudson music T.I.P teaching group and a regular contributer to Phil Solomon's DRUMSTUDY newsletter.

When asked about how his feet affect his playing, Lee says "I just do it kind of like everyone else does only my feet don't really line up with the pedals I try not to think about not doing It I just do it." As a teacher some of his students have various disabilities and learn alternate methods to play drums.

Lee is a member of Uk folk rockers Leatherat, jazz/fusion band consortium sp,and the James Foley band. He endorses Phil solomon's "drumming starts here" book and Big fat snare drum heads and is a UK ambassador for Cymbomutes cymbal silencers.

He appears on the Bobbie Watson album "off the leafy pathway" And "Snake eyes" by Leatherat as well as other recordings Lee is a proud member of the Vic Firth education programme and uses Vic Firth sticks,brushes and mallets and Sabian cymbals exclusively.
