Mike Zielinski

Location: Long Island, NY

Challenge: Cerebral Palsy

Mike Zielinski studied drumming with Donald Jaeger, founder of the Coalition for Disabled Musicians, Inc. (CDM) starting in 1992.

After taking lessons for several years, he started making cameo appearances with the band "Range of Motion" at the age of 14. In 1996, he officially joined CDM and is now drumming full time with the band. In May of that year, Mike received the Suffolk County Youth Achievement Award at Longwood High School for his academic achievements, extracurricular activities and his ability to overcome the obstacles that his disability (Cerebral Palsy) presents.

Mike also plays percussion at local coffeehouses and organized events.

He is currently teamed up with guitarist, pianist and vocalist Tom Ryan as the duo Sympatico, playing soft rock and easy listening music.

He is also a member of the Organization of Open Mic Performing Artists (OOMPA) on Long Island. His enthusiasm and passion for drums and percussion is evident each time he performs.
