Sophie Riggs

Sophie Nina Riggs was born on the 7th of September 1993 at Farmborough Hospital in England. She likes to be called Soph. Her professional stage name is Soph.

Sophie's Father was a professional ballet dancer with the English National Ballet, and now runs his own ballet company, called The Australian Classical Ballet. Her mother was a professional singer in the choir that sang with the English National ballet and she also played the Timps. She now also part owns Adelaide Youth Theatre. She says "Nicole Kidman is my first cousin who Sings and Acts in movies. Who is married to Keith Urban who happens to be a really awesome country singer, so I born right in to a musical Background".

Sophie started off with acting and modelling, and says "I played my very first lead role in a musical when I was nine.

I was Molly in Annie the musical, but my favourite role was Mary Lenox in the Secret Garden when I was eleven. I also enjoyed playing Young Cosette in Les Mis in 2004 along side Normie Rowe. I have also worked professionally with Windmill and the State Opera." She has also auditioned for Disneyland in Hong Kong, Los Angeles and Paris. Sophie has been very lucky to perform in LA Disneyland and New York. Sophie started her impressive career of with a television show in England called "Frank Stubbs" in 1994, starring Timothy Spall, she was the lead Baby Ralph. Sophie then went on to do modelling for Warner Brothers for a CD called "Classic Sleepies". Sophie has also done a bit of TV work in Australia and short films, and she was an extra in "Hey Hey it’s Esther Blue-burger".

Sophie says "I have had music in my life from the day I was born". She started with the Australian Girls Choir when she was just five years old in 1998, also started playing piano from five. Sophie did music all through primary school and high school. She has had private singing Tuition from the age of seven till present. Sophie has completed a Certificate 3 at The Adelaide Conservatorium. She has also done a number of Workshops with lots of big names in Australia and the United States. She did work experience at the Capitol Theatre in Sydney in 2009".

Sophie says "I didn't pick my musical career it picked me, being brought up in a performing arts background. I didn't always have a choice, but when it came to choosing I found that is was my strength and one of the only major things I could do, so I stuck with it. I mainly do musical theatre and a little bit of Classical. I would like to start looking at other eras of music. After I graduate from Australian International Conservatorium of Music, I would like to perform on the stage, starting off with Australia then making my way back home to England to perform in the West End. I also want to go back into film and TV as well, that is my aim and goal in life, and it has always been my dream".
